We say (by Brett): Out of the packet the sticks smell vibrant and fresh, invigorating and quite perfumed but once you light a stick out comes a lovely sweet fragrant earthiness.

You can smell the sandalwood base but there is a fresher, greener, sharper note mixed with a sweet soothing quality. Quite an interesting combination. This may be one that is good for meditation as it does has an “awake” kind of quality to it. This is one of Padmini’s popular incenses.
