On the Back
Indigenous Medicine Woman and author of The Medicine Within, Asha Frost, invites you to honour your ‘inner winter’ by slowing down, listening deeply and returning to the natural rhythm of the seasons.
The Inner Winter is a compassionate antidote to hustle culture and the relentless pressure to always be healing, producing or becoming, empowering you to release shame, embrace stillness and root into your inner knowing.
An inner winter isn’t confined to a season. For those living with chronic illness, pain, grief or depression, it can be a state of being carried even on the brightest day of summer - a truth Asha knows intimately from her own journey with lupus. Guided by the Medicine Wheel and the turning of the seasons, she shows Wintering Ones that this part of themselves is not something to fix, but something sacred to tend.
Each of the book’s four parts embodies a season: Fall as harvest, Winter as rest, Spring as rebirth and Summer as growth. Blending ancestral Ojibway teachings, embodied practices, healing rituals, ceremonies and journal prompts, The Inner Winter gently shows you how to embrace every season of your life and discover wholeness by welcoming the wisdom of winter.
